The Power of Storytelling in the Courtroom

5 June 2025

You can’t just throw facts at a judge or jury and expect results. You need a narrative.

Over time, I’ve developed the habit of finding the kernel — the emotional or human truth at the heart of a case. I build from there, using relatable language and a conversational tone. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when a story resonates with a judge or juror.

I learned this the hard way in my early years. I had a theft case where my client was accused of manipulating an older man for gifts. In reality, they were romantically involved — and deeply connected. Once that story came through clearly in court, the jury returned a not-guilty verdict after just two hours.
